Weekend MLB Exhibitions In Montreal Draw Crowds Of 96,000

A crowd of 46,314 attended Friday's Reds-Blue Jays exhibition at Montreal's Olympic Stadium, followed by a crowd of 50,000 Saturday. That is "195 more people than came last year" for MLB's "inaugural return." MLB Exec VP/Administration & CIO John McHale: "These are impressive numbers. We thought that because of the Easter holiday and the novelty perhaps wearing off this year, there might have been fewer people." McHale, who today will report to MLB on the games, said, "With the commissioner's new team in place, many people are interested in reading the report" (CP, 4/5).
