Texas Bowl Draws Record Crowd, While Other Bowls See Declines

The AdvoCare V100 Texas Bowl saw a record crowd of 71,115 for the nine-year-old event at NRG Stadium as Arkansas defeated Texas 31-7. That figure comes on the heels of last year’s record-low crowd of 32,327 for the Syracuse-Minnesota matchup. This year was the first of a six-year deal matching teams from the SEC and Big 12. Meanwhile, the AutoZone Liberty Bowl saw 51,282 fans for Texas A&M’s 45-37 win over West Virginia yesterday, marking the event’s lowest figure since UCF-Georgia drew 51,231 fans in '10.

Clemson’s 40-6 win over Oklahoma at the Russell Athletic Bowl last night drew 40,071 fans to the recently renovated Citrus Bowl Stadium in Orlando, marking the lowest figure for the event since Clemson-Colorado in '05 (31,470).
