Cleveland Sports Teams Part Of Coalition Behind Sin Tax Campaign

A coalition of Cleveland-area businesses, pro sports teams, downtown development advocates, unions and politicians yesterday launched a campaign to "try to convince voters to pass a 20-year renewal of Cuyahoga County's 'sin tax' this May." The overall message of the "Keep Cleveland Strong" campaign is that "the stadiums the sin tax would pay to maintain are community investments that keep downtown Cleveland vibrant" (Cleveland PLAIN DEALER, 2/19).

The measure on the May 6 ballot would direct tax funds to be "spent on upkeep" of Progressive Field, Quicken Loans Arena and FirstEnergy Stadium (WKYC.com, 2/18).
