Cobb County Commissioners Approve Funding For Braves Ballpark

The Cobb County (Ga.) Commission last night voted 4-1 to approve plans for partial funding of the $672M ballpark for the Braves in the Cumberland Mall area. Commissioner Lisa Cupid, the lone dissenting vote, said that she supported the Braves' move but “was uncomfortable with the speed of the vote,” which came just two weeks after the team announced it was moving from Turner Field. Residents began "crowding into the meeting hall hours" before the start of the hearing, "many sporting 'Cobb: Home of the Braves' T-shirts" (ATLANTA JOURNAL-CONSTITUTION, 11/27).
