Detroit City Council Delays Vote On Red Wings Arena, Development

The Detroit City Council yesterday “put off until mid-December a vote on legislation to finalize” the proposed $650M Red Wings arena and residential development. Council President Saunteel Jenkins said that the vote “will not occur until the council sees details of a concessions-management agreement that spells out how the project" will benefit Detroit. The arena would be owned by Detroit’s Downtown Development Authority and managed by Olympia Development, “an arrangement that is similar to how the Ilitch organization runs the city-owned Joe Louis Arena” (DETROIT FREE PRESS, 11/27).
