MLB GM, Owners Meetings To Address Wide Range Of Topics

MLB this year is merging its annual GM meetings and owners meetings into one four-day event, which begins today in Orlando. The sessions will address "a diversity of topics, from the Japanese posting system to increased instant replay to eliminating home-plate collisions" (N.Y. POST, 11/10). The BOSTON GLOBE lists several takeaways from the meetings, including a prediction that with TV revenue under the new CBA rising from $25.53M to $51.67M per team, clubs "will extend themselves a bit more to achieve personnel goals" (BOSTON GLOBE, 11/10).

Also in Orlando, more than 1,100 MLB team execs are on hand as the '13 Industry Meetings kick off today at the Walt Disney World Dolphin hotel. The event, which runs until Wednesday, features an agenda that represents over 15 disciplines and 65 breakout sessions. The event began with an address from MLB Exec VP/Business Tim Brosnan, followed by a keynote speech from Disney Chair & CEO Bob Iger (THE DAILY).
