The Georgia Department of Economic Development board approved $30M in bond financing for three projects on the Georgia World Congress Center campus, “including funds to be used towards a new dome” for the Falcons (AJC.com, 5/23).

Prince George’s County Circuit Court Judge John Davey yesterday heard arguments from Maryland and the ACC “concerning the school’s lawsuit against the conference” over its exit fee. Davey declined to make a ruling, “saying he will issue a written opinion soon” (WASHINGTONPOST.com, 5/23).

The Univ. of Akron has finalized the sale of the Rubber Bowl for $38,000 to Team 1 Marketing, which is "poised to begin gutting the facility" in order to potentially house a USFL franchise. Team 1 President Sean Mason said that the company will invest as much as $35M in the project (AKRON BEACON JOURNAL, 5/24).

Coyotes GM Don Maloney reportedly is "in the midst of negotiating a contract extension with the NHL and is close to completing a new deal." Maloney's current deal expires this offseason (AZCENTRAL.com, 5/23).

The Oilers and Stars will play a Sept. 27 preseason game in Oklahoma City, which will be the "fourth NHL exhibition contest played" in the city. The AHL Oklahoma City Barons are an Oilers affiliate (EDMONTON JOURNAL, 5/24).

An estimated “raucous” crowd of 15,000 last night attended the “Long Live the Kings” rally at Cesar Chavez Plaza in Sacramento (SACRAMENTO BEE, 5/24).
