The Chiefs today will formally announce the hiring of Packers Dir of Football Operations John Dorsey as their new GM. Dorsey and recently hired coach Andy Reid worked together with the Packers from '92-98 and the connection "made Dorsey the favorite" for the position (K.C. STAR, 1/13).

SPL club Rangers today "set out their vision" for a reform of club soccer in Scotland. CEO Charles Green "softened his threat to leave the Scottish game but restated Rangers' ambition to be part of any future cross-border European league" (REUTERS, 1/14).

Univ. of Miami officials as early as today could "receive a draft of the NCAA's notice of allegations regarding rule violations in the football and basketball programs" (PALM BEACH POST, 1/13).

Portland Development Commission Exec Dir Patrick Quinton today is expected to sign documents "requesting the state expand an Enterprise Zone to include an area that Nike is believed to be considering for expansion." The change would allow Nike "to obtain five-year tax abatements for a new, job-creating development" (Portland OREGONIAN, 1/12).

Northwestern Univ. and WGN this weekend announced a three-year radio rights extension. WGN has been the school's radio home since '96 (SUNTIMES.com, 1/13).

MLL announced that its Championship Weekend will be held Aug. 24-25 at PPL Park in Chester, Penn. (MLL).
