Hurricane Sandy Could Affect Preparations For N.Y. Marathon

Hurricane Sandy is bearing down on the East Coast, and preparations for Sunday's N.Y. Marathon "may be affected." N.Y. Road Runners officials "have been talking with city officials to assess the impact on the weeklong preparations and festivities that precede the race." NYRR in a statement said it has put into place "contingency plans in taking a very cautious approach to possible disruptions due to the storm" (NYTIMES.com, 10/28).

The NFL's league offices are "closing their doors" today in anticipation of the storm's effects, joining "many local businesses and institutions" (PROFOOTBALLTALK.com, 10/28). The Meadowlands Racetrack and Winners Bayonne off-track wagering site will be closed today "in expectation of Hurricane Sandy's arrival to the area" (Bergen RECORD, 10/29).
