Bettman, NHL Negotiators To Respond To NHLPA's Recent CBA Offer

NHL labor talks continue today in Toronto, and league Commissioner Gary Bettman said that he and his negotiating team plan to have a "preliminary response" to the NHLPA's offer for a new CBA. If the league needs "more time to study the proposal," Bettman said that today's meeting "could be delayed, but only by hours rather than days" (GLOBE & MAIL, 8/15). Bettman said, "It's clear to me that they didn't put it together in an hour or two, and as a result we're going to need to take a little bit of time to evaluate it" (AP, 8/14).
