NBC Sports Group Drops FSN Programming From Comcast RSNs

NBC Sports Group dropped all FSN programming and the DirecTV-owned "The Dan Patrick Show" from its Comcast SportsNet RSNs on Aug. 1 after failing to reach a new programming deal. Part of FSN's programming is a national college football package of 36 games (including from the Big 12 and Conference USA), as well as UEFA matches. FSN also sells "The Dan Patrick Show," which NBC carried on five RSNs in major media markets: CSN Mid Atlantic, CSN Chicago, CSN Bay Area, CSN Philadelphia and CSN New England.

NBC Sports Group and FSN released similar sounding statements to THE DAILY last night. NBC: "Our arrangement for the Dan Patrick Show expired and we couldn't come to terms on a long-term deal. We're still in negotiations and remain hopeful that we can reach an agreement." FSN: "We were unable to reach a new agreement with the Comcast RSNs for the continued distribution of our programming."

The omission of FSN programming from Comcast SportsNet schedules first was noticed last night by bloggers Ken Fang and Matt Sarzyniak.
