Big 12 Commissioner Bob Bowlsby, who took office on July 1, will hold a press conference today at the Big 12 Football Media Days at the Westin Galleria in Dallas (OKLAHOMAN, 7/22).

The MLB Rangers will surpass the 2 million attendance mark with tonight's game against the Red Sox, "the earliest point in club history." The team's previous early date for reaching the 2 million mark was the 50th game in '94 (DALLASNEWS.com, 7/20).

Baseball HOF officials estimated about 18,000 fans attended Sunday's induction ceremony for Barry Larkin and Ron Santo in Cooperstown, N.Y. Local merchants said that retail traffic was "at or above levels last year." The busiest weekend "remains the year Cal Ripken Jr. was inducted" in '07 (Oneonta DAILY STAR, 7/23).

Software company SAP is running a full-page ad in this morning's USA Today congratulating Ernie Els for winning the British Open. The ad features an image of Els, who sports the SAP logo on the front of his hat, and includes the copy, "Congratulations, Ernie. (You Can Keep The Hat)" (THE DAILY).
