Millrose Games May Leave MSG For Armory Track And Field Center

The Millrose Games, "the most famous indoor track meet in the world," is expected to leave Madison Square Garden, where it has been held since 1914. Armory Foundation, which holds rights to the event, next week is expected to formally announce that it is "relocating the 104-year-old meet to the much smaller Armory Track and Field Center in Upper Manhattan next year." The foundation would risk losing funding from USA Track & Field, "which opposes the move." An estimated crowd of about 9,000 attended this year's event, "one of the smallest crowds in years and more than 7,000 below" MSG's capacity for track meets. The Armory Track has a capacity of about 4,000 (N.Y. TIMES, 5/13).
