NBC, HBO Top Sports Emmy Awards With Seven Wins Each

HBO and NBC were the big winners with seven awards each in last night's 32nd annual Sports Emmy Awards in N.Y. CBS followed with six total awards, and ESPN had five. HBO's latest season of "Hard Knocks," focusing on the Jets, garnered three awards. NBC's coverage of the '10 Vancouver Games "accounted for three of the network's wins." The net's Al Michaels received the lifetime achievement award. NBC and MLB Networks' Bob Costas was named outstanding sports personality; NBC hockey voice Mike Emrick won for best play-by-play; NBC's Cris Collinsworth won for best sports event analyst. ESPN's Kirk Herbstreit was named best studio analyst (HOLLYWOODREPORTER.com, 5/2).
