Michigan Stadium's entire project is estimated to cost $41M and includes replacing audio system, infrastructure fees and safety additionsgetty images

Michigan Stadium will have "two new video scoreboards by the fall" of '23, according to Angelique Chengelis of the DETROIT NEWS. Univ. of Michigan Regents on Thursday "approved a request" by AD Warde Manuel to "replace the current video scoreboards, which will cost" an estimated $12M "as part of multi-level project." The boards are at the north and south ends of the stadium. The entire project will cost an estimated $41M and includes "replacing the audio system in the entire stadium, production room upgrades in Crisler Center, infrastructure and design fees, and safety additions." It will be "funded by athletic department gifts." The new scoreboards will be the "same height as the current boards, but will be wider" (DETROIT NEWS, 3/25). In Michigan, Aaron McMann noted in addition, the project calls for an $8M "upgrade to the production studios at Crisler Center, which serves multiple athletic facilities across campus, including Michigan Stadium, Yost Ice Arena, field hockey, baseball, softball and indoor track." UM Exec Senior AD & Chief Operating Officer Rob Rademacher said that the studios are "key to producing content for the Big Ten Network." The school last replaced the scoreboards inside Michigan Stadium in '11, and "haven’t upgraded the production equipment" inside Crisler Center since '13 (MLIVE.com, 3/24).
