Alex Rodriguez Grows Media Portfolio, Will Contribute To ABC News Programming

Alex Rodriguez has “sealed a deal with ABC News, which will see him appearing in segments across the news division" for shows like "GMA," "World News Tonight" and "Nightline," according to Emily Smith of the N.Y. POST. A source said that Rodriguez “had been in talks with ABC News brass about appearing as an on-air contributor for sports, family and even financial segments for shows across the network.” The source added, “Viewers are not going to see Alex weekly, more like once a month. But it could be more if he does well.” Smith noted Rodriguez’ MLB commentary would “remain exclusive to Fox Sports, meaning he likely couldn’t appear on ESPN” (NYPOST.com, 5/27). In Tampa, Tom Jones wrote he is “outright flabbergasted that networks are falling all over themselves to do business” with Rodriguez. Jones: “Guess it really does pay to cheat” (TAMPA BAY TIMES, 5/29). In N.Y., Phil Mushnick wrote, “It’s not as if ABC News doesn’t know Rodriguez’s history. Still, he meets with a national news division’s credibility standards” (N.Y. POST, 5/30).
