Hydration Station: Tiger, Monster Energy Working On New Product For Golf Course

Tiger Woods this morning said he and new sponsor Monster Energy are working on a "new product coming that I can utilize on the golf course." Woods spoke at a press conference in advance of this week's Hero World Challenge, his first competitive tournament since August '15, and also confirmed reports that Monster will appear on his golf bag. He said of his partnership with the beverage company, "It’s going to be exciting. It's fun for me to be able to tap into that realm that’s going to help me with my performance on the golf course. I know that I'm not going to be doing any kind of half pipes or anything like that. I have energy, just not like that" (Golf Channel, 11/29). Woods during the press conference had a Monster Energy water bottle on the table in front of him (THE DAILY).

UNDER MY UMBRELLA: Woods this morning also discussed the creation of his TGR company, noting it "made more sense" to him to put all of his business ventures "under one housing brand." Speaking to Golf Channel, he said, "I’m not going to be competing out here forever. So if that's the case, I'd like to unify all my business entities. ... We can cross-pollenate, we can talk to each other, they can piggyback off one another. For me, I don't have to go out there and feel like I have to participate in all of it and do all of it at different times. They can help each other out." He said the set-up of TGR is "going to help me in the long run, where I don't have to be out here playing all the time." Woods: "Athletes don't play into their 60’s, 70’s, 80’s. That's just a reality. But you can still run businesses. You can still compete in different areas, and that's what I'm doing” ("Morning Drive," Golf Channel, 11/29).
