Tiger Woods Sporting Monster Energy Logo On Bag For Return To Competitive Golf

Tiger Woods will "debut a Monster Energy logo on his bag" this week at the Hero World Challenge, his first competitive golf event since August '15, according to sources cited by Darren Rovell of ESPN.com. Monster joins Nike, Rolex, Upper Deck, Hero and Kowa as Woods' sponsors. It will mark the "seventh logo Woods has had on a bag" since turning pro in '96, joining Titleist, Buick, AT&T, Nike, Fuse Science and MusclePharm. The latter company "paid him in May to terminate its deal -- which was set to run through June 2018 -- to further trim company expenses." Meanwhile, no new equipment deal "is imminent" with Nike departing that industry, though Woods is "actively testing new equipment" (ESPN.com, 11/27). USA TODAY's Steve DiMeglio reports Woods for this week "has settled on the Bridgestone golf ball," while he will "continue testing various clubs." Woods yesterday was "working out various metal woods and had the same Nike irons in his bag that he used the last time he played." He also was using a Scotty Cameron putter (USA TODAY, 11/28).
