Senators Only Looking At Parliament Hill As Possible Options For '17 NHL Outdoor Game

The Senators and the NHL are "working closely with government officials to try to host a game" on Parliament Hill in December '17 as part of Canada’s 150th anniversary celebrations, but if that does not happen, it "doesn’t appear" the CFL RedBlacks' TD Place is being looked at as an alternative, according to Bruce Garrioch of the OTTAWA CITIZEN. Speaking yesterday on Ottawa-based CFGO-AM, Senators President Cyril Leeder said that the Hill is the "only location the team and the league are studying." Leeder said, "We’ve been working with the league and some federal officials on trying to make that work. ... I know there’s a lot of effort being placed on that right now to try to sort out the details and make that work." Garrioch notes the Senators "met with government officials last month to discuss the logistics -- including security -- on the Hill." While Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson "has indicated he’d like an answer this month, that may not happen" (OTTAWA CITIZEN, 9/20).
