Pitt Breaks School Record For Most Football Season Tickets Sold With Over 55,000

Pitt AD Scott Barnes on Thursday said that the school has "sold a program-record 55,630 season tickets" for football games this year, according to Jenn Menendez of the PITTSBURGH POST-GAZETTE. The school's previous record of 53,775 "was 13 years ago." The current figure "includes full and partial season-ticket plans." The department "does have three-game season ticket mini-packs." Barnes said that 4,900 three-game ticket plans "have been sold, up from the roughly 2,700 that were sold at this point last year" (PITTSBURGH POST-GAZETTE, 8/19). Barnes added that fans "renewed season tickets" at a 94% rate, beating the school's goal by 1%. In Pittsburgh, Jerry DiPaola notes new sales "reached 12,247, beating the goal by nearly 2,500" (PITTSBURGH TRIBUNE-REVIEW, 8/19).
