NBA, Under Armour Debut New Mobile App Combining Company's Fitness Platforms

The NBA and global partner Under Armour today are debuting a new NBA Fit mobile app that ties together the league’s existing health and wellness program with Under Armour's Connected Fitness platform. The app, available on iOS and Android, will feature original content such as training videos from NBA and WNBA players and conditioning coaches, including Warriors G and Under Armour endorser Stephen Curry. NBA Fit is also the first partner app to be powered by Under Armour’s UA Record network. The creation of the NBA Fit app was originally contemplated in a larger deal announced last August that makes Under Armour the title partner of the NBA Draft Combine and presenting partner of the Jr. NBA, the league’s youth basketball program. “The goal is to create year-round content to encourage fans to be more healthy and active. We think this will be a powerful tool to do that,” said NBA Senior VP/Social Responsibility Todd Jacobson. The NBA Fit app will debut with a Finals-themed challenge in which users will be encouraged to log a 30-minute workout session each day between now and June 19, during which they will attempt to match or beat the current record of 16 three-point shots made in a single Finals game. “This represents a big opportunity to leverage our brand and technological capabilities to support a really important league initiative,” said Under Armour VP/Global Sports Marketing Peter Murray.
