Hornets Pleased With Playoff Ticket-Sales Pace; Cavaliers To Have Limited Supply

The Hornets said that the team has "about 4,000 tickets left to sell for each of the three playoff games already on sale," while partial and full-season tickets "account for 11,000 seats at the 19,000-capacity Time Warner Cable Arena," according to Erik Spanberg of the CHARLOTTE BUSINESS JOURNAL. The Hornets "clinched a playoff spot last weekend" and each additional home game is worth $2M "or so in revenue." Hornets Exec VP and Chief Sales & Marketing Officer Pete Guelli said, "We're pacing ahead of any previous seasons. We're really pleased, especially since we don't know who or when we'll play." Spanberg noted most of the 4,000 seats remaining for Hornets playoff games "are in the upper level." This will be the first time the team -- formerly the Bobcats -- has been in the playoffs as the Charlotte Hornets since '02 (BIZJOURNALS.com, 4/7).

GET EM WHILE THEY'RE HOT: In Cleveland, Kevin Kleps noted there "will be fewer than 1,000 single-game tickets available for each" Cavaliers postseason game at Quicken Loans Arena. That is "not surprising for a team with 14,500 season-ticket holders." The number of playoff tickets is "further limited by fans who enroll as Wine & Gold United members at this time of year so they can get priority on postseason seats" (CRAINSCLEVELAND.com, 4/7).
