Rams Nearing Deal To Hold Spring Practices In Oxnard; Training Camp Locale Undecided

The Rams are "beginning to finalize plans" for their first year back in L.A., as the Oxnard City Council will "vote on Tuesday on an agreement with the team" to hold spring practices there, according to Fenno & Farmer of the L.A. TIMES. Oxnard is where the Cowboys hold their training camp, but the River Ridge fields "would host the Rams from April 18 through June 17." The Rams will "need to go elsewhere for training camp." Once training camp ends, the Rams intend on moving to "what they will call their 'permanent temporary facility,' which will serve as their base for football operations the next few years." With this contract, the Rams "would use the locker room facilities from March 28-June 24," and the team would be in charge of maintaining fields and providing security. The cost of fencing the facilities "would be split by the team and city." Oxnard Assistant City Manager Scott Whitney "does not anticipate a long-term relationship between the Rams and Oxnard." He said, "They've indicated this is going to be a one-year agreement" (L.A. TIMES, 2/23).
