Braves Fans Quickly Snatch Up Tickets For Final Regular Season Game At Turner Field

Braves fans are "making plans to say goodbye to Turner Field," and when the team put single-game tickets on sale Friday, many buyers "immediately gravitated to the last game of the regular season," according to Tim Tucker of the ATLANTA JOURNAL-CONSTITUTION. By Saturday, Ticketmaster "showed no tickets remaining" for the Oct. 2 game against the Tigers, the last scheduled game at the ballpark. That was amended yesterday afternoon to “not many left.” Sales also "appear to be moving briskly" for the April 4 season opener against the Nationals. The Braves move to SunTrust Park in '17 (ATLANTA JOURNAL-CONSTITUTION, 2/23).

BRIDGE OVER TROUBLED WATER: In Atlanta, Dan Klepal reports Cobb County’s transportation department is "asking for permission to condemn small patches of some of the most expensive real estate ... in the county so it can build the bridge over Interstate 285, from the county’s convention center to SunTrust Park and the Braves mixed-use development." The bridge is "considered a critical safety element" for the new ballpark because it will "help keep pedestrians off busy Cobb Parkway." Cobb Commission Chair Tim Lee recently announced that the county "would try to have the bridge open for the first pitch" of '17 (ATLANTA JOURNAL-CONSTITUTION, 2/23).
