DC United Extends Primary Sponsorship With Government Engineering Contractor Leidos

DC United and Virginia-based engineering company Leidos have “agreed to extend” their sponsorship deal through ’18, with the Leidos logo remaining on the club's jerseys, according to Steven Goff of the WASHINGTON POST. The government contractor has been United’s primary sponsor since ’14, and the parties’ initial agreement lasted through ’16, “with options for the subsequent two years.” Both sides were supposed to make a decision regarding the extension in December but instead “agreed to extend the deadline as talks continued.” The original contract called for a 50% "increase in Leidos’s commitment over the last two years.” The sides will also "continue discussing Leidos retaining first rights" beyond '18. Terms of the extension "are not being shared publicly” (WASHINGTONPOST.com 2/18)
