Road To Rio: Ashton Eaton Inks Gillette Deal, While Allyson Felix Adds Chobani Yogurt

Gold Medal-winning U.S. track & field athletes Ashton Eaton and Allyson Felix have added new sponsors heading into the Rio Games. Eaton, who won the decathlon at the '12 London Games, has signed with Gillette to endorse its razors. He said, "I really liked the campaign that they pitched." Eaton declined to elaborate before a formal announcement. Eaton's agent, Paul Doyle, noted the decathlete also will reprise his role in Procter & Gamble’s “Moms” campaign, which ran during the '12 Games. Eaton: "Obviously it’s the same family, so I deal with a lot of the same entities, and they have the same values. It’s also made things easy.” P&G declined to comment. Eaton also has deals for the Rio Games with Coca-Cola and Visa. Meanwhile, four-time Gold Medal-winning sprinter Felix has signed with yogurt brand Chobani and is in advanced talks with J.M. Smucker to endorse its Jif peanut butter and Folgers coffee brands. Wesley Felix, Allyson's brother and agent, said Chobani was a strong match because it's a young company with a shared mission of keeping people healthy. Wesley Felix also said Jif and Folgers are good fits as Felix, now 30, looks to a post-Olympics career. Wesley Felix: "We felt that would be a good fit as Allyson gets a little bit older. That’s a more mature company, and we wanted to introduce her to that audience as she gets older and leaves the Olympic space." Chobani and Smucker did not return a message seeking comment. P&G is an IOC TOP sponsor, while Chobani and Smucker are domestic rights holders via deals with the USOC.
