Next Phase Of Renovations At Bank Of America Stadium Likely To Be Upper-Level Concourse

NFL Panthers President Danny Morrison yesterday said that the team is "still completing plans for off-season stadium upgrades" at Bank of America Stadium and, at the moment, is "leaning toward upper-level concourse renovations and revamping the WiFi system," according to Erik Spanberg of the CHARLOTTE BUSINESS JOURNAL. Lower-level concourse renovations "are almost sure to be punted for another year or two, owing to both costs and time needed for completing construction work between the end of each season and exhibition games in August." Renovations "start after the last home game of the season." With the Panthers 9-0, their final home game "could stretch into late-January" if the team makes the playoffs with home-field advantage and "reaches the conference championship" (BIZJOURNALS.com 11/17).

I SAW THE THE SIGN
: In Charlotte, Joe Marusak reports the Panthers "have revised" their banner policy following a recent incident involving QB Cam Newton and a Packers fan. Panthers Exec Dir of Stadium Operations Scott Paul said that banners, signs and flags "can be no larger than 2-by-2-feet." The team said that it "had already been reviewing its rules on banners and signs," but the Nov. 7 incident “'obviously played a role' in the review of the 20-year-old policy" (CHARLOTTE OBSERVER, 11/18).
