Moda Health Stays Committed To Trail Blazers' Sponsorship, But Other Deals Could End

Even as Portland-based Moda Health "cuts back and fights for its survival, the company says it has every intention" of keeping naming rights to the Trail Blazers' arena, according to Allan Brettman of the Portland OREGONIAN. But with Moda's withdrawal from the Washington insurance market last week, its sponsorships in that state -- with the NWSL Seattle Reign and Seahawks -- "might be unnecessary going forward." The company "has suffered two consecutive years of losses, a depletion of capital and heightened regulatory scrutiny after an aggressive push into new insurance markets mandated by the Affordable Care Act." It "will continue to do business in Oregon and Alaska." Moda Exec VP Steve Wynne last week said that the company "was committed to its partnership with the Blazers." Wynne: "We have built a great strategic relationship with the Blazers that we anticipate will extend well into the future."  Moda announced its 10-year naming-rights partnership in '13 (Portland OREGONIAN, 10/31).
