Putnam Excited By Exposure New Floor Sponsorship Deal At TD Garden Will Bring

Putnam Investments CEO Robert Reynolds said the company signed a court sponsorship deal at the Celtics' TD Garden because it "provides the type of exposure we would like to see," according to Donna Goodison of the BOSTON HERALD. Reynolds: "Every time the ball goes up and down the court on TV, that’s what you’ll see." As part of the deal, TD Garden’s recently renovated, private courtside club that previously held Sun Life Financial’s name "will be renamed the Putnam Club." Putnam’s name "also will be featured elsewhere in the arena, including on courtside seats, LED courtside signs and the Jumbotron." The deal "includes digital and social media opportunities for Putnam," which "has been expanding its sports sponsorships in recent years under its 'Performance in Motion' marketing program designed to appeal to its advisers, and institutional and investor audiences." It also sponsors the Patriots, PGA Tour players and the U.S. Ski & Snowboard Association. Celtics Managing Partner & CEO Wyc Grousbeck said that Putnam’s deal "catapults it to the top of the team’s sponsor list." He added, "Putnam, clearly, is a hugely important piece of our partnership going forward." He said that should the NBA "proceed with any plans to allow patches with corporate logos on team jerseys, the Celtics would approach Putnam." Reynolds: "It’s an interesting idea, so we would be very interested" (BOSTON HERALD, 10/2).
