Texas A&M football coach Kevin Sumlin on Tuesday said that his cameo in a new adidas commercial was filmed during "his vacation time this summer." Sumlin: "It was an opportunity with adidas, who’s been a great partner with us, and our athletics department. ... They said the guys that were going to be in there were Sammy Watkins, Jimmy Graham, DeMarco Murray, and you. I said, ‘Ok.’" He added, "I don’t dress that way at football games. But I figured no one would know who I was if I didn’t dress that way. To expose the brand like that, it does nothing but help us" (STATESMAN.com, 9/23). 

CAMP SITE: Talladega Superspeedway yesterday announced that the fall NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race on Sunday, Oct. 25 will be known as the CampingWorld.com 500. A prior partnership existed from '11-13 when the company served as the entitlement sponsor for the fall NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Talladega. Plans are for Camping World Chair & CEO Marcus Lemonis to serve as Grand Marshal of the race (Talladega).

LOVE TO HUNT: J.B. Hunt Transport, Inc. yesterday announced that it is entering into an associate partnership with Richard Petty Motorsports in coordination with Driver Appreciation Month. J.B. Hunt’s logo will also be present on Sam Hornish's No. 9 car in select NASCAR Sprint Cup races in '15 and '16 (J.B. Hunt).

PUBLIX AWARENESS: In Tampa, Ashley Gurbal Kritzer notes Publix during the '15 NFL season is holding "tailgating competitions, naming the Publix Tailgater of the Game" for the Dolphins, Jaguars, Falcons and Buccaneers. An entire section of the Publix website "is devoted to football-themed recipes, divided into categories like grilling, game day at home, finger foods and desserts" (BIZJOURNALS.com, 9/24).
