WeatherTech Replacing Tudor As Title Sponsor Of IMSA SportsCar Championship Series

IMSA on Saturday announced that Illinois-based automotive floor mat manufacturer WeatherTech has signed a multiyear deal to entitle its premier sportscar series, which as of Nov. 1 will be called the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. WeatherTech replaces Tudor, which had signed a five-year deal in '13. IMSA also announced that Tudor and Rolex have struck 10-year extensions of their deals, starting in '16. Tudor becomes the official timepiece of IMSA and Rolex will extend its partnership with Sebring Int'l Raceway as an official sponsor of the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring (IMSA). WeatherTech Founder & CEO David MacNeil, who is a road racer himself, said, "It is my intention to use our marketing horsepower to elevate the awareness of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship to the general public. We want to increase our fan base for the betterment of the teams, the sponsors and finally the drivers." MOTORSPORT.com's Steven Cole Smith noted the '16 schedule "will include 12 events" (MOTORSPORT.com, 8/9).
