As Part Of Larger Brand Push, Ortiz Unveils New Logo, Food Products

Red Sox DH David Ortiz "is taking a bigger swing at his Big Papi’s Kitchen line, introducing a new logo and five new products, including a revamped fresh salsa, black bean salsa, Caribbean hummus, tortilla chips and a snack pack," according to Donna Goodison of the BOSTON HERALD. The launch "is part of a larger, post-pro baseball brand-building push for 'Big Papi.'" Ortiz: "I know my career is not forever. (It) opens the door to some other things. I think the food business is pretty established. Nobody here has spent a day without eating." N.Y.-based marketing firm Radegen Founder & President Alex Radetsky, who reps Ortiz, said that the goal "is to have the Big Papi Kitchen brand become ubiquitous in Massachusetts and New England." Ortiz also "is considering his own restaurant/sports lounge in downtown Boston where his products could be served" (BOSTON HERALD, 7/8).
