Russell Westbrook Graces Cover Of "NBA Live 16," Unveils Team-Branded Eyewear

Thunder G Russell Westbook will "grace the cover" of EA's "NBA Live 16" when it launches later this year, according to Brett Molina of USA TODAY. This is the third season since the video game franchise "went on a hiatus, as developers sought to improve on the series' technical aspects." A version of the game featuring Thunder F Kevin Durant was "yanked due to significant technical problems." Meanwhile, 2K Sports last week announced that Spike Lee "will direct NBA 2K16," which features Warriors G Stephen Curry, Rockets G James Harden and Pelicans C Anthony Davis on the cover (USATODAY.com, 6/9).

EYE ON THE PRIZE: The AP's Cliff Brunt reported Westbrook Frames, an eyewear company that Westbrook co-owns, has "partnered with the NBA to launch a new series." The initial release "includes frames for seven teams" -- the Cavaliers, Celtics, Clippers, Heat, Knicks, Lakers and Nets. They are "available on the Westbrook Frames website for $145." Company co-Owner Marc Beckman, who also serves as Westbrook's marketing agent for fashion, said that "there are designs for all 30 teams, and eventually, the others will be released." Brunt noted this is the "sixth collection" for Westbrook Frames, which launched in July '14, and the company's "second collaboration with the league -- it launched an All-Star Series" ahead of the '15 All-Star Game (AP, 6/9).
