Orlando City Surpasses 13,000 Season Tickets Sold, Closing In On Cap Set By Team For '15

Orlando City SC on Thursday announced it has "surpassed 13,000 season ticket holders" for its inaugural MLS season, "closing within range of the cap of season tickets" for its first year, according to Paul Tenorio of the ORLANDO SENTINEL. This means "fewer than 1,000 season tickets remain." Club officials have said that they will "cap season tickets at 14,000 to ease the move to the new soccer-specific stadium" in '16. The club also "appears to be nearly sold out of tickets for the lower bowl and plaza levels ahead of its season opener" March 8 against NYC FC (ORLANDO SENTINEL, 2/27). Meanwhile, in Orlando, Mike Lafferty reports the city "has finalized a deal to provide weekend SunRail service" for the March 8 opener. The mayor's Deputy Chief of Staff Heather Fagan in an e-mail wrote that many of the details "haven't yet been pinned down, but that SunRail will operate" for the match at the Citrus Bowl. It "would mark the first time SunRail trains have run on the weekend, although trains were on the tracks Jan. 1 for the Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl" (ORLANDOSENTINEL.com, 2/25).
