In Nashville, Jamie McGee reported Comcast is "offering Wi-Fi access at LP Field" after installing two fiber Ethernet connections, one of which "will be used by the NFL Network." The Wi-Fi access "will be available to all smartphone users, regardless of their provider." Comcast Big South Region VP/PR Alex Horwitz said that the Wi-Fi access "was in place for some games last season in a trial period" (Nashville TENNESSEAN, 2/3).

TAKE ME TO THE RIVER: In St. Louis, Jim Thomas reported former A-B President David Peacock and Edward Jones Dome Authority attorney Robert Blitz have hired John Loyd as a "consultant on stadium and design for the riverfront project on the north end of downtown designed to keep the Rams" in the region. The St. Louis Regional Convention and Sports Complex Authority last week "unanimously approved funding for the hiring of consultants on the stadium project." Loyd was "responsible for the design, construction and cost control of the new Busch Stadium" (ST. LOUIS POST-DISPTACH, 2/3).

THE CHOPPING BLOCK: In Atlanta, Dan Klepal reports the Georgia Supreme Court yesterday "asked tough questions of both sides in the pending case over whether Cobb County government can take on" nearly $400M in debt for construction of a new Braves ballpark "without a public vote." The stakes "are high in the case, which likely won’t be ruled upon for a few months, because the Braves have already spent tens of millions of dollars" on construction (ATLANTA JOURNAL-CONSTITUTION, 2/4).

A REDO FOR THE IGLOO: In Pittsburgh, Robert Zullo reports the City Council "voted Tuesday to finally approve" of the Penguins’ proposed $440M redevelopment of the former Civic Arena site. It was an ordinance "years in the making," after what City Council member Daniel Lavelle "called 'countless conversations' between the team, community groups and local government and at times bitter divides over affordable housing and minority business participation" (PITTSBURGH POST-GAZETTE, 2/4).
