The '18 Pyeongchang Olympic Organizing Committee yesterday signed South Korea-based telecom company KT Corp. as its "first domestic sponsor." The AP noted this comes after "months of concerns that Pyeongchang had yet to secure a domestic sponsor, nearly three years after being awarded" the Winter Games (AP, 7/1).

CHEVY OR BUST: NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. said of the potential of him driving a race car other than a Chevrolet, "I can’t imagine ever doing anything else." Earnhardt, appearing on Motor Racing Network's "NASCAR Live," added, "I love the relationship I have with Chevrolet. I believe in their product. That’s what I got in my garage. Among other manufacturers, I have no interest in driving a Toyota or a Ford. I couldn’t even imagine it" (MRN.com, 7/1).

BUBBA'S SPARKS: In West Virginia, Rich Stevens notes golfer Bubba Watson "moved into his house" on The Greenbrier resort property about a month ago. A billboard along I-64 features photos of Watson and Basketball HOFer Jerry West -- who also "owns a home on the property -- that reads 'Live Where Legends Live.'" Watson: "It’s pretty funny. You’re talking about Jerry West, a legend in his sport and then there’s me. Basically it’s like I won the lotto and they put my picture up next to his. I’ve gotten to meet him a few times" (CHARLESTON DAILY MAIL, 7/2).

MINIMAL MOVES: Minimalist footwear brand Skora yesterday announced that it is moving its HQs from Portland to Seattle. Skora Founder & CEO David Sypniewski said that the company "is moving north in part because it wants to be closer to retail partners Amazon and Nordstrom" (Portland OREGONIAN, 7/2).
