Tax Documents Show USA Track & Field Paid Former CEO Logan $1.5M Last Year

USA Track & Field paid former CEO Doug Logan $1,549,054 in '10, according to tax documents filed this month. Logan, who was fired in September '10, sued USATF after his dismissal and claimed he was owed $1.7M. The parties ultimately settled the suit. The NGB paid him a base compensation of $354,538, a reportable compensation of $97,422 and retirement and deferred compensation of $1,095,927 last year. His total compensation in '10 was three times more than his total compensation of $573,700 in '09. USATF increased its revenues to $17.9M in '10, up 44% from the $12.7M it generated in '09. Its total expenses over the same period rose to $17.4M, leaving it with $517,878 at the end of the year. The total helped the organization increase its net assets to $3.4M at the end of the year. Revenues increased largely as a result of an increase in sponsorship money, which rose to $10.7M in '10 from $6.9M in '09. USOC support rose over the same period to $2.9M from $1.4M. The organization's largest expense was travel, which topped $3.3M. Officer compensation and salaries were the second and third largest expenses at $2.2M and $2M, respectively.
