The Mavericks announced that they will "absorb all
service fees" for $8, $15 and $21 seats at Reunion Arena for
the remainder of this season, according to Jodie Valade of
the DALLAS MORNING NEWS. Those tickets "fill the upper
level" and the move "coincides with the" Mavs' longest
homestand of the year (DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 12/20).
TEAMS CREATIVE ON TICKET PLANS: In Tampa, Gary Haber
examines various holiday ticket promotional plans offered by
pro teams. The Lightning offer a holiday gift pack starting
at $24, which includes tickets for three games, a "holiday
stocking with the team's logo and a signed hockey puck."
Team execs had hoped to sell 300-350, but have sold 500.
Meanwhile, the 76ers have packaged a ten-game ticket plan
with a 76ers cap, a media guide and three free months of
cable service from parent company Comcast Cable. The team
sold 1,000 packages in two weeks (TAMPA TRIBUNE, 12/20).
SPORTS 101: Pacers Sports & Entertainment will conduct
a one-day "Inside the Front Office" seminar on January 27 at
Conseco Fieldhouse. Reps from the Pacers, Fever and
Firebirds will participate in the program on team
operations. The cost is $99 for students and $125 for non-
students. The cost includes lunch and tickets to a Pacers
game, Fever game and Firebirds game (INDY STAR, 12/20).
