Commissioner BUD SELIG "slipped on the icy driveway" at his
home in Milwaukee and "broke his left kneecap, which will
require surgery to repair." Selig was admitted last night
to Sinai Samaritan Medical Center and was "scheduled to
undergo" surgery early this morning." MLB Dir of PR RICH
LEVIN, on Selig: "He wasn't happy that it happened,
obviously, but it sounded like the prognosis was good. I'm
sure he'll be on crutches for a while" (MILWAUKEE JOURNAL

for giving recently-elected athlete members of the IOC a
written questionnaire on the "history and protocol of the
Olympic movement." DeFrantz: "I apologized and I continue

has prostate cancer, will have surgery to "remove his
prostate" on January 4. The procedure will "sideline him

magazine's "25 MOST INTRIGUING PEOPLE OF 2000." Sporkin, on
TIGER WOODS appearing in the list: "Already a superstar.
