SPONSOR DEALS & AGENCY SIGNINGS: PEPSI REELS IN SOME BASS

          Operation Bass has signed a multi-year deal making
     Frito-Lay and Pepsi official sponsors of the Wal-Mart FLW
     Tour, EverStart Series and Wal-Mart Bass Fishing League for
     2001.  As part of the deal, Frito-Lay and Pepsi will sponsor
     the Family Fun Zone, an interactive attraction at each FLW
     event (Operation Bass)....Speed Stick has signed on as the
     presenting sponsor of the SFX Motor Sports Group's EA Sports
     Supercross Tour and National Arenacross Series, as well as
     an associate sponsor of the IFMA Freestyle Motocross Series
     (SFX)....Australia's National Basketball League is
     "searching for a new naming rights sponsor following"
     Mitsubishi's move to end its ten-year partnership with the
     league when the season ends in March (Sportcal.com, 11/14). 
     Mitsubishi is "believed to have put" more than US$10.4M into
     the league over its ten-year deal (Melbourne AGE, 11/15).
     ...Starz Super Pak has signed on as the primary sponsor of
     the Galles Racing-owned IRL team and driver Al Unser Jr. for
     next season.  The deal marks the second year of sponsorship
     for Starz Super Pak, as the company was an associate sponsor
     of the team this year.  Gemstar-TV Guide Int'l will be an
     associate sponsor of the Galles team next year (Galles).    
          AGENCY FRONT -- CART GETS NEW PR HELP: CART has named
     MN-based Tunheim Group as its PR agency of record, effective
     January 1.  CART's PR is currently being handled by Alan
     Taylor (CART)....NC-based ISP Sports has been retained by
     the PGA Tour as the official sales rep for the inaugural
     Marconi Pennsylvania Classic (ISP)....N.Y.-based Tuchman
     Sports Enterprises has been hired by ABC, Playboy and Pabst
     Blue Ribbon to handle marketing, event management and promo
     activities around pro and college football (Tuchman).
