IS THE SAG-A OVER? TIGER FINED $100,000 FOR BUICK AD

The SAG has fined Tiger Woods $100,000 "as a penalty
for having shot a non-union Buick ad" during the union's
strike against advertisers, according to sources cited by
Dave McNary of DAILY VARIETY. But the union's trial board
"agreed to suspend $50,000 of the fine, to be reinstated
should Woods perform struck work in the future." Woods has
15 days to appeal, "but apparently has agreed not to do so"
(DAILY VARIETY, 11/10). The HOLLYWOOD REPORTER's David Robb
writes that the SAG trial board found Woods "guilty of being
a 'scab.'" The $50,000 was suspended based on a five-year
     probationary period (HOLLYWOOD REPORTER, 11/10).
PLAY WITH TIGER'S BALL: BLOOMBERG NEWS' Dan Bollerman
reports that Nike will begin selling Woods' Tour Accuracy
golf ball next March, after the non-profit Public Remedies
claimed in U.S. District Court in S.F. that the company was
"misleading the public with ads for another ball." Nike
Golf President Bob Wood: "We think there's going to be a lot
of curiosity among golfers of all skill levels to play the
same golf ball Tiger Woods plays." The Tour Accuracy TW
ball will be available in "limited quantities" with a
suggested retail price of $54 per dozen, while the regular
Tour Accuracy ball sells for about $45 per dozen (BLOOMBERG
NEWS, 11/9). Nike Business Dir for Golf Balls Stan
Grissenger said that the TW ball will be sold on an
"allocation basis," and that distribution will be "broad,
but not deep" (GOLD WORLD BUSINESS, 11/9).
