MARKETPLACE ROUND-UP

SAG-A NOT OVER FOR SOME? USA TODAY's Michael McCarthy
writes that while SAG/AFTRA and the ad industry have reached
a tentative deal to settle the six-month old talent strike,
"how SAG will treat such strikebreakers" as Lance Armstrong
and Tiger Woods is "still to be determined" (USA TODAY,
10/24). SAG attorney John McGuire "indicated" that the
unions will "proceed with the internal adjudication against
members who worked during the strike, pointing out that the
unions have the right to expel offending members" (AD AGE,
10/24). In N.Y., Judith Schoolman reports that at a news
conference announcing the tentative deal, "there were boos
for several celebs" who filmed ads during the strike,
including Armstrong and Woods (N.Y. DAILY NEWS, 10/24).
NOTES: The Colts have been "swamped with e-mail and
phone inquiries regarding" the Touchdown Monkey, a stuffed
chimpanzee introduced in a TV campaign earlier this season.
A "limited edition version" of the Touchdown Monkey and the
smaller Extra Point Monkey went on sale Friday, and 750 of
each out of the 1,000 available were sold for $49.95 and
$29.95, respectively. Colts Senior VP/Sales & Marketing Ray
Compton: "It's becoming the Beanie Babies of the NFL" (INDY
STAR, 10/23)....Dunlop Slazenger Group Americas has awarded
its $10M golf and tennis ad account to NC-based Long Haymes
Carr. Incumbent J. Walter Thompson, Atlanta, "declined to
participate" in the review (BRANDWEEK ONLINE, 10/19).
