CALLAWAY'S HOWELL-IN' AT THE MOON AFTER BIG SIGNING

Callaway Golf is the "winner in the Charles Howell
Sweepstakes," as the company "locked up" the golfer
yesterday "for three years at more than" $1M per season,
according to GOLF WORLD BUSINESS. The "loser was Ping,
which had been courting" Howell since he enrolled at OK
State Univ. Howell's agent Rocky Hambric confirmed that
Howell's Callaway deal includes the Rule 35 ball, X-14 irons
and metal woods, as well as bag and hat logo placement.
Howell was given a new set of equipment when he visited
Callaway's test center in CA last week, and he "agreed in
principle" to a deal after he had dinner with company
Founder & CEO Ely Callaway (GOLF WORLD BUSINESS, 8/14).
