          For broadcast numbers, one ratings point = 1,008,000
     homes.  For cable, "COV AREA" = % of homes tuned in to that
     program in that network's universe of subscribers.
          BRITISH OPEN: ABC's final-round coverage of the British
     Open was the highest since a 7.3/25 in '72, played on a
     Saturday.  Third-round coverage was up 39% from last year's
     3.3/13 and was the highest third-round rating since a 5.4/20
     in '82.  This was the most-watched British Open ever (ABC).
          LPGA: NBC's two-day average for its U.S. Women's Open
     coverage earned a 1.7/5, up 13% from '99's 1.5/4 (NBC).
          TOUR DE FRANCE: ABC's four Tour de France telecasts
     averaged a 1.3/4, down 24% from last year's six telecasts,
     which drew a 1.7/5.  Saturday's coverage was ABC's highest
     for the event in 2000, down 30% from July 25, 1999 coverage,
     which drew a 2.3/6 and featured Lance Armstrong's final-
     stage victory (ABC). The AP's Howard Fendrich reports that
     Armstrong's second Tour de France victory "drew more viewers
     for ESPN and ESPN2 than his first did."  ESPN averaged a
     0.57 for its 18 telecasts this year, up 42.5% from '99's
     0.40 average for 21 shows.  ESPN2's 19 telecasts this year
     drew a 5.0, an increase of 35% (AP, 7/28).
          WNBA: The "WNBA on NBC" is averaging a 1.5/4 for its
     seven telecasts this season, down 6% from the 1.6/5 rating
     for its six telecasts at the same point last year (NBC).
          MLB: "MLB on Fox" is averaging a 3.0/10 for its nine
     telecast so far this season, which is even with last year
     through the same amount of broadcasts (Fox).

On this week’s pod, SBJ’s Austin Karp has two Big Get interviews. The first is with TNT’s Stan Van Gundy as he breaks down the NBA Playoffs from the booth. Later in the show, we hear from ESPN’s VP of Programming and Acquisitions Tim Reed as the NFL Draft gets set to kick off on Thursday night in Motown.
