EXECUTIVE TRANSACTIONS

          The USOC has named MARK MUEDEKING as its new General
     Counsel, replacing SCOTT BLACKMUN, who was named to the
     newly created position of Senior Managing Dir, Sport
     Resources.  Muedeking has been a partner with the law firm
     of Piper, Marbury, Rudnick, and Wolfe since '93 and will
     start at the USOC on August 7 (USOC).  In CO, Paula Parrish
     reports that "just five months into his tenure," USOC CEO
     NORM BLAKE has "filled the last opening" on his senior
     leadership team in hiring Muedeking.  Blake's management
     team is comprised of 13 "top-level" execs, nine of whom
     "report directly to him" (CO Springs GAZETTE, 7/26).
          CFO MOVES AT TOP SPORTS CONTENT SITES: Broadband Sports
     has named GEORGE PLATISA as CFO, replacing GREGORY HEBNER,
     who will become a new VP of AthletesDirect.  Prior to
     joining Broadband, Platisa was CFO at CA-based PacifiCare
     and was previously VP/Operations Planning at Walt Disney Co.
     (Broadband)....Meanwhile, the SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL's Noah
     Liberman reports that Rivals.com has dismissed KAREN
     NORTHRUP as CFO.  Corporate Controller RICH MUNOZ has been
     named interim CFO (SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL, 7/24 issue). 
          OTHER MOVES: The Marlins have named JOHN WESTHOFF as
     VP, responsible for the team's legal matters.  For the past
     20 years, Westhoff was Associate Counsel for MLB (SOUTH FL
     BUSINESS JOURNAL, 7/24)....LUKE CYPHERS has rejoined the
     N.Y. Daily News after a stint at ESPN Magazine.  Cyphers
     will become a member of Deputy Managing Editor/
     Investigations TERI THOMPSON's sports investigation unit
     (N.Y. Daily News). ...MI-based General Sports &
     Entertainment has named CHARLES NAGLE as Dir of Executive
     Placement.  Nagle was Dir of Sponsorship Sales for the Bowie
     (MD) Baysox (DETROIT FREE PRESS, 7/25)....Former Ogden
     Entertainment exec FRANK RUSSO has joined Global Spectrum as
     Senior VP/Sales & Client Services.  Russo will be based in
     Hartford, CT (AMUSEMENT BUSINESS, 7/24)....Carbite Golf
     named former Padres President & CEO BALLARD SMITH to its BOD
     (Carbite Golf). ...LSU's SID HERB VINCENT is leaving after
     12 years to become VP/Communications for the College Sports
     Southeast TV Network.  Vincent served the longest tenure as
     LSU's SID in school history (Baton Rouge ADVOCATE, 7/25).
