ROSKI'S GAMBLING VENTURE PUTS NFL HOPES IN JEOPARDY

ED ROSKI has agreed to buy the Las Vegas Hilton for
$365M in cash, and Dave Berns of the LAS VEGAS REVIEW-
JOURNAL reports that because of his ownership interest in
the NHL Kings and Lakers, Roski "will abide by league
guidelines and no longer accept wagers on the two leagues at
the Hilton's sports book" (LAS VEGAS REVIEW JOURNAL, 7/13).
But in L.A., Jesus Sanchez writes that Roski "might have to
make some tough choices" regarding his gambling ventures and
his interest in bringing a pro football team to L.A.
Roski's Hilton ownership, to go along with his Silverton
Hotel & Casino, are "forbidden under" NFL rules. NFL Senior
Manager of Corporate Communications BRIAN MCCARTHY: "It's
against league rules. This would be a significant issue if
(Roski) pursued an NFL team" (L.A. TIMES, 7/13).
