IMG has signed a marketing consulting deal with
Charlotte-based InternetHoops, a Web company that will
deliver high school basketball content. The company's Web
site, InternetHoops.com, will feature player college-signing
news, as well as recruiting analysis, rankings and player
archives (InternetHoops)....MA-based Lids has launched a
line of Stars & Stripes hats, featuring the logos of 21 MLB
teams. The hats are available at Lids' approximately 400
retail outlets, as well as on lids.com (Lids).
NAMES & FACES: The first 10,000 adults entering the
July 7 White Sox-Cubs game at Wrigley Field will receive
"Sammy Sosa Lapel Pins," along with a card featuring the
Popeye's chicken logo. Cubs VP/Marketing John McDonough, on
recent trade speculation around Sosa: "As of now, he's a
Cub, and as of now, [the promo is] absolutely on. We
haven't even thought to the contrary" (CHICAGO SUN-TIMES,
6/30)....MD-based Digex President & CEO Mark Shull appeared
on CNN's "Street Sweep" yesterday, along with Lakers C
Shaquille O'Neal, who talked about his endorsement deal with
the company. O'Neal: "The reason why I wanted to work with
Digex is because, if you know the business, you know that
Digex is a dominant force in Web hosting. Everyone knows
that -- that Mark and Digex are a dominant force in Web
