MARKETPLACE ROUND-UP

ODDS & ENDS: In N.Y., Richard Sandomir writes that FSN
is promoting its new Regional Sports Report (see THE DAILY,
6/6) with a "meanspirited promotional campaign that makes
Russians, Indians, Turks and Chinese look like morons."
Sandomir: "Give me the 'This is SportsCenter' spots where
athletes and anchors lightheartedly mock their images" (N.Y.
TIMES, 6/13)....In Dallas, Michael Precker writes that
merchandise of former Cowboys CB Deion Sanders, who recently
signed with the Redskins, is "marked down" in the area, as
his Cowboys jersey is selling for 50% off at some stores.
Sports memorabilia store Owner Nick Redwine said, "I'm glad
I'm not sitting on a bunch of Deion stuff. Maybe we'll have
a 'goodbye, good riddance' sale." But DC retailer Milton
Newby said of Sanders' Redskins jersey, "People say they
just got to have Deion. But we probably won't have the
jerseys in till July" (DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 6/12).
