MEDIA NOTES

          TV MONITOR: Last night's 10:00pm ET 60-minute edition
     of FSN's "The National Sports Report" led with Angels-
     Indians, followed by Orioles-Devil Rays.  The first non-MLB
     coverage, at 6:12 into the broadcast, was a 1:06 report on
     ESPN's interview with Bobby Knight. Last night's 11:00pm ET
     30-minute edition of CNN/SI's "Sports Tonight" led with Game
     One of the Stars-Devils Stanley Cup Finals, followed by a
     1:29 report on ESPN's interview with Knight.  Last night's
     11:00pm ET 60-minute edition of ESPN's "SportsCenter" led
     with Stars-Devils, followed by Royals-Red Sox.  ESPN
     reported on its interview of Knight at 11:34 into the
     broadcast, with 4:04 of total Knight coverage (THE DAILY).
          TALENT NOTES: FSN's Keith Olbermann, on the N.Y. Post's
     Peter Vecsey reporting that 76ers G Allen Iverson was on the
     trading block: "To be fair, at least half of what Vecsey
     reports is wildly inaccurate" (FSN, 5/28)....In Richmond,
     Jerry Lindquist reported that Jerry Glanville did not work
     Sunday's Coca-Cola 600 on TBS because his mother died
     Saturday (RICHMOND TIMES-DISPATCH, 5/30)....In Chicago, Ron
     Rapoport cited a Publisher's Weekly report that Michael
     Jordan "will cooperate with" the Washington Post's Michael
     Wilbon on the book, "A Whole New Ballgame: Michael Jordan
     Comes to Washington" (CHICAGO SUN-TIMES, 5/30)....AD AGE's
     James Brady writes that ESPN's Jeremy Schaap will host
     "Classic Sports Reporters," featuring Jack Whitaker, Curt
     Gowdy and Jim McKay (AD AGE, 5/29 issue)....USA TODAY's Rudy
     Martzke reports that ESPN men's college basketball analyst
     Dick Vitale has signed a four-year deal with ESPN Magazine
     and ESPN.com (USA TODAY, 5/31)....In N.Y., Stuart Elliott
     reported that men's magazines "are trying to persuade
     advertisers that TV is not the only way to reach men,
     particularly the coveted 18-to-34 age group."  A study
     conducted from April '99 to March 2000 showed that Sports
     Illustrated had 7.8 million readers among men 18-34, down
     11.3% from '99.  In April 2000, SI had 200.95 advertising
     pages, up 14.3% from April '99, and drew $45.9M in ad
     revenue (N.Y. TIMES, 5/29)....Also in N.Y., Richard Sandomir
     writes that "current rumors" about a new analyst for ABC's
     "MNF" booth have Rush Limbaugh "out," with ESPN NFL analyst
     Sterling Sharpe and ABC college football analyst Dan Fouts
     being considered (N.Y. TIMES, 5/31).
