TAKE THE MONEY AND RUN? TOTAL SPORTS ON BLOCK?

Bull Run Corp. CEO and Total Sports Dir Robert Prather
said on a conference call with analysts last Tuesday that
Total Sports "is already in talks" about a potential sale of
the company, according to Kaplan & Liberman of the
SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL. Bull Run is one of Total Sports'
largest investors. Prather: "We are currently negotiating
with two other parties about an acquisition of Total Sports.
Hopefully, we will have the name in two months." Kaplan &
Liberman write that though Prather "did not mention names of
interested buyers" or comment on the situation, Paul Allen's
Vulcan Ventures and IMG's Internet unit "are considered"
possibilities. Total Sports CEO Frank Daniels, on Prather's
remarks: "If Bob made a comment, we'll have to let what Bob
said stand. The only thing I would say is, of course we've
had a lot of people express a lot of interest in parts and
all of Total Sports. But I'm focused on building this
     business" (SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL, 5/22 issue).
